- Start by emptying the fuel tank (run at idle until the engine stops)…regular fuel with ethanol can damage your carburettor and rubber seals, etc If you are using STIHL MotoMix, you can leave it in the fuel tank because it contains no ethanol and the 2-year shelf life of the product (contains fuel stabilizer), will ensure the tool will fire right up and run great when you need it
- If you normally use mixed fuel, you can run the tank dry of that fuel and then add a little bit of STIHL Motomix…run for a few seconds to ensure it is in the carburettor, then shut off and store for the winter
- Give the tool a good cleaning…this includes the air filter, spark plug and cylinder fins Moving metal parts should be slightly lubricated with oil
- Store your tools in a dry, frost-free space if possible
