Homemade for the Holidays: Dividing Plants

Do you have a green thumb? Why not divide and give your best house plants as holiday gifts? We’ll show you how.

Ingredients:

  • Black Gold soil (we used cactus mix)
  • Bag of small rocks (for decoration and drainage)
  • Several jars

Directions:

First, divide some of your favorite plants. Be sure you have enough roots for a nice, thriving start. We divided an aloe plant, spider plant, and a Chinese money plant.

Add some small rocks to the bottom of a jar, then fill the rest with your soil for any plants that require earth. For us, that was the aloe. For plants such as a spider or Chinese Money plant, use rocks and water. Be sure to leave some room at the top.

Wrap your jars with ribbons and give them as gifts.
