Homemade for the Holidays: Hot Chocolate Truffle Bombs

December 5, 2020

These delicious bombs are a taste explosion and a favorite for kids and adults alike. All you need are a handful of ingredients and some space in your freezer.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon hot chocolate mix
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 drop peppermint extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Candy cane (crushed into a powder)

Directions:
Combine all of your ingredients (except the candy cane bits) into a small saucepan. Heat and stir on low until completely combined. Then pour the mixture into a glass container, cover, and place in the freezer for 1 hour.

Now, fill a small bowl with your crushed candy canes and set aside.

Using parchment paper, line a regular baking sheet. Then, use a spoon to scoop and roll your mixture into individual balls about 1.5 inches in diameter. Quickly roll each one in the crushed bits of peppermint and place on the cookie sheet. Put the whole cookie sheet into the freezer for 30 minutes. Then wrap each bomb individually and keep in the freezer.

To use your Hot Chocolate Truffle Bombs, place one bomb into a tall glass of hot milk and stir gently. Then watch it dissolve into yummy goodness.
